How to Read Today’s Racecards
Racecards act as comprehensive previews for each and every horse racing event. They showcase key information to help you bet on each race, including:

Outright Winner: A simple bet on a horse to win.
Place: Wager on a horse to finish in one of the top positions in the race.
Each-Way: Back your horse to win or place, with two bets.
Exacta: Bet on the first two horses to finish, in the correct order.
Trifecta: Wager on the top three horses to finish in the exact order.
You can also place an accumulator bet, where you wager on outcomes across multiple races. The more legs you add to your accumulator, the longer the odds and the higher potential payouts. Remember, all your legs need to come in for an Acca to be successful.

You’ll also see successful horse and jockey combinations, as well as some expert analysis. Plus, information like the horse’s age, the colour of the jockey’s silks, and the number of the horse.
How do I read the form on a racecard?
When reading the form on a racecard, look for numbers that indicate places, like 1 for first place and 2 for second place. You’ll also see letters, including F for fell, B for brought down, and U for unseated rider. Look for symbols too, like a / to separate different calendar years and a – to separate seasons. C means they’ve won at the course before, D means they’ve won at this distance before, and CD means they’ve won at the course and distance.
What does 'each-way' mean in horse racing?
An each-way bet means you place two bets: one on the horse to win and one to place. If your horse wins the race, both bets pay out. If it finishes in the top places, only the bet to place will be successful.
